Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the incredible team at Mitchem Dental, a local dental office based in Champaign, Illinois. For their updated headshots, we chose the beautiful grounds of Japan House in Urbana – a peaceful and picturesque setting that offered the perfect mix of natural beauty and clean, simple backdrops.

What we didn’t anticipate? Crowds, crazy wind, heavy clouds, and rain on the way! Welcome to springtime in Illinois, right? 🤪 Despite the wild weather and dodging tons of people, the team showed up with amazing attitudes and lots of laughter – seriously, they made my job so easy.

Even with the overcast skies and wind threatening to blow us away, we created some truly beautiful portraits. The soft, diffused light actually worked in our favor, adding a flattering, even glow to every shot. The natural surroundings of Japan House added a serene, calming vibe – a lovely contrast to the high-energy weather we were working with. We were also excited to see that the trees were still in bloom, giving us pretty pink blossoms for almost every shot!
